Creating Community Through Arts and Nature
Too many great creative ideas – ideas with the power to bring real joy to our community – never make it past the pipe-dream stage. Bureaucracy and a lack of encouragement can be daunting, and they stop our community’s dreams becoming realities that would benefit us all.
Create Newent exists to change that.
We help turn dreams into live projects and lasting community assets – sharing knowledge, experience, encouragement, and the governance know-how needed to underpin any community project.
We work with community groups and individuals across the Newent area. Each project operates independently, but benefits from the experience and support of the wider group.
Founded in 2025, our projects so far have included:
- Newent Visioning Workshops with Newent Town Council
- Newent Town Centre Survey, with Newent Business Club
- Spring Fayre 2025, with the Newent Fun Day Group
- Newent Art Competition 2025, with the Secret Gallery
- Rebuilding our community garden, with Space to Grow
- Bulb planting at Newent Lake, with Newent Rotary and Space to Grow
- Christmas Carols for Charity, with the Lamplight Carollers
- The Newent Community Arts Centre Project
Got a great idea for Newent? Don’t let it stay a pipe dream.

About Create Newent
Create Newent CIC was formed in 2025 by Hannah Ferguson and Clare Stone. Hannah is an artist, illustrator and curator, owner of Newent’s Secret Gallery. Clare is a writer, marketer and community activist, Chair of Buses4us, the organisation behind the Daffodil Line.
We share a passion for the arts, nature and Newent. We both felt that many worthwhile potential projects were passing our community by, simply for lack of a formal structure to take them forward.
We hope that Create Newent can help to fill that gap. If you are interested in working with us on an arts or nature focussed community project we would love to hear from you.
